hyacinth 1-9, 2022
10 Inkjet prints. 11 by 8.5 inches.
The dense pace of the growth of a hyacinth bulb has lasted in experience for months after it withered and the vase was emptied. Referring back to the glass vase as the only and stable material reference of measurement, the growth of the hyacinth is retraced from the total of nine photos it left. The same leaf’s changing height, the width of the stem, and the tilting position of the bloom are translated into rigid line segments and shapes on the light green grids of a series of nine computational paper. Lined up on the wall, the graphs produce an obscure movement of the plant from the snapshots and an inexpressible astonishment of life.
